Locating items in the Layers palette

When you select artwork on the artboard using a selection tool, you can quickly locate the corresponding item in the Layers palette using the Locate Object command. This command is especially helpful for locating items in collapsed layers.

To locate an item in the Layers palette:

1. Select an object on the artboard. If you select more than one object, the frontmost object in the stacking order will be located.
2. Choose Locate Object from the Layers palette menu. This command changes to Locate Layer if the Show Layers Only palette option is selected. (See Using the Layers palette.)
